Bulletin 2024 Week 46

.NET Edinburgh (Jonty Day)

I’ve organised the last GlasgowJS meetup of the year on Tuesday, so come along if you want to learn about Demystifying Auth and to do some socialising with fellow JavaScript developers. If you are in Edinburgh then FanDuel are putting on TestTalks on the same evening.

And in content from the community: Rory has put together a post on Capturing D3.js animations with ffmpeg (I missed it when it was published); Sarah Lean wrote about Deploying an Azure Log Analytics Workspace with Terraform; Ljupche posted a video update on the WordPress drama; and Rusty posted a video on using the built in AI models in Chrome. I also posted two more videos to the Scottish Technology Club Video Library from EdinburghJS: Cam Blackwood on a SaaS in seconds with WASP and Samuel Macleod on real time with Cloudflare.

Looking further ahead, check out The Foundations of the Digital State launch next Monday, where Gordon Guthrie will be presenting his report at the Bayes Centre (see Gordon’s Bluesky post). You can now also book tickets for DevFest Scotland 2024 on 30th November.

It seems like a lot of “tech twitter” migrated to Bluesky last week. I’ve set up profiles for Scottish Technology Club, EdinburghJS and GlasgowJS. It’s easy to pull posts from Bluesky onto our websites for updates and info. Expect those to appear soon. If you haven’t used Bluesky yet then check out the JS Meetup Speakers, Hosts and Helpers Starter Pack. A starter pack is a list of accounts you can start following to get you up and running in the community. I’d love to list more Scottish hosts and organisers, and put together another list with Scottish recruiters (to help folks find jobs). If you set up your profile then send me a message if you want you or your meetup to be listed.
