Happy New Year! I hope you all had a good festive break. As it’s the first full week back to work events are a little light this week. Jamie Furlong (occasional GlasgowJS host) is running an online session on UK Remote Work Trends 2025 with Rod Richmond, and Tech Meetup Glasgow is on Thursday. Looking further ahead Daniel is speaking on “Magically optimising your fonts” at GlasgowJS on the 14th, and Python Glasgow are on the 15th. Dundee has an AWS User Group meetup on 14th, and Edinburgh has a Cloud Native and Kubernetes meetup on 23rd.

A few blogs posts and videos appeared over the festive period: Andy blogged about his holiday coding projects, Sarah wrote about Enhancing Terraform Deployments with TFLint in GitHub Actions, and Jedidiah wrote about generator functions in JavaScript. Ross added an RSS feed to his blog, which means I can now pick it up for this bulletin: His last post on making a shower sensor includes the sentence “if you’re the kind of person to say this could be solved by using the light switch, this blog is not for you”, so check it out for 3d printing and home automation info!

Ljupche posted a videos on Chrome Dev Tools Tips for Web Devs and Documenting Event driven architecture, Daniel streamed making a CMS-powered Nuxt app part 1 and part 2, and Emmanuel streamed a Lunch and Learn with the Scottish Tech Army on The environmental impact of web apps and Oluyemi did a Lunch and Learn on Monoliths to Microservices.

I’m on the lookout for speakers for the upcoming Glasgow and Edinburgh JavaScript events. We’re also hoping to run a few more quarterly or one-off events on different languages and topics, so if you fancy giving a talk (regardless of subject) then you can fill out our speakers form.

We are also in need of both a venue and sponsor for EdinburghJS this month, as FanDuel are no longer able to host us. If you have any leads then please do get in touch. If I haven’t been able to sort something by next week then I’ll organise a social/pub discussion evening.
